Anti-social behaviour

Give respect, get respect

Everyone should be able to enjoy their home and to feel secure within their community.

We are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and racial harassment through our anti-social behaviour policy which aims to:

  1. Achieve a “Positive Impact on Communities” by promoting positive relationships in neighbourhoods;
  2. Reduce the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour in communities by tackling such activity, and adopting a zero tolerance approach to abuse of tenants and staff alike;
  3. Use timely and effective methods in preventing and tackling anti-social behaviour, including:
    • taking legal action
    • ensuring that appropriate resources are available to deal with this issue
    • support witnesses in their own homes
    • foster a culture where residents feel able to report anti-social behaviour to Amber Valley Housing;
  4. Work with people and groups at risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour to provide support, mentoring and diversionary opportunities and to promote self-esteem;
  5. Provide training to staff to assist in dealing effectively with anti-social behaviour, and to provide a service giving value for money;
  6. Not treat anyone unfairly because of:
    • their race
    • colour
    • ethnic and national origin
