About Amber Valley Housing

Amber Valley Housing Limited (AVHL) was established in 2003 after tenants of Amber Valley Borough Council voted in favour of a stock transfer. Their decision was based on the commitment made by the company to improve services and homes. Amber Valley Housing converted to charitable status in 2004 and established a subsidiary, Five Doorway Homes, to undertake development activities. In 2007 Amber Valley formed Futures Housing Group by creating a partnership with Daventry and District Housing.

AVHL currently owns and manages 5500 properties within Amber Valley, Erewash Derbyshire and Ashfield in Nottinghamshire; we currently employ approximately 104 staff including an in-house repairs and supported housing team, providing a range of services to both our own tenants and private customers including General and Supported Housing, Community Lifeline, Repairs, Homeless Service and Housing Advice, Disabled Adaptations and Community Development.

The Board of management consists of 15 board directors including tenants, independent members and council nominees. The governance arrangements include having Board Champions who take specific responsibility for key areas of the business. The aim is to ensure that the board is adequately advised and involved.

The corporate plan which has been developed with involvement from customers and team members establishes a framework for monitoring performance and managing the risks facing the organisation. This has been developed in line with the Group’s vision
