Playground swings into action at launch

Local organisations have joined forces to launch a new village playground.

The playground, at Cinderbank in Ironville, includes new swings, climbing frames and adventure-style bridges and has been developed with the help of local residents.

The project was a partnership between Amber Valley Housing, Cinderbank Playaway Group, Lovell Partnership, Connaught and two local authorities - Amber Valley Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council.

Residents in the area also raised money to provide two new benches for the site, which have now been put in place.

Amber Valley Housing, which owns and manages more than 5,500 homes in the area, led consultation sessions at the start of the project to find out what local families wanted from the space.

Martin Sherman, executive director of business development and asset management, said: “We are pleased to have been able to work closely with a range of organisations as well as with the local people to create a facility which is set to become a major focus for community life in Ironville.”

A plaque to mark the completion of the project has now been put up at the playground site.
